Everyone’s got a dream job right??? Well, for me, it’s to one day become a CHEK Practitioner and so naturally I jumped at a recent opportunity to work with Leila Lutz, CHEK Practitioner Level 2, in assisting with a very special client of hers. Meet Diana, a pint sized mother of three beautiful children and just so happens to be one of Leila’s cousins. Diana came to Momentum for Life for a solution to her chronic headaches, sore feet, weak knees, neck and back pain.
Right away, I assisted Leila in carrying out a complete CHEK Assessment, a comprehensive 2 hour examination of a client’s medical history, posture, movement patterns, diet and lifestyle factors, physical strength and flexibility. From the assessment findings, we were able to highlight key areas of Diana’s body that would be the focus for our strength and conditioning program over the next 6 weeks. So, a program was developed and Diana and I were in to the gym.
Lower Abdominal exercises to ensure pelvic stability
Not a week in to our training, of which Diana and I were doing 2 x one hour sessions per week, Diana reported that her chronic headaches were gone and her neck pain had disappeared. The results just kept coming for Diana and after just three weeks I was delivered one of the most beautiful reminders of why I love my job as a trainer, a Facebook status update reading…”I gotta say just after 3 weeks working out at Momentum for Life I noticed that I’m not slouching as much, no more headaches, neck is stronger, back is better. I also notice that when I carry something heavy, my core switches on! How cool is that!!”
Leila and I recently re-assessed Diana’s progress and its so great to see how the CHEK program really works on paper. Diana’s pelvis is now level due to the length tension relationships between her legs and pelvis now being balanced and she has increased the range of motion in her thoracic spine as well as the strength of her neck. We now have a new set of goals for our training together to take Diana to the next level. When recently asked what Diana now wants out of her training she replied, “I want abs and butt muscles”…Well, Diana, we’d be more than happy to help you with that so let’s get training!!!
If you’re asking yourself, “how do I find a personal trainer”, to help get you out of pain???” Or, perhaps you’re after a personal trainer to get “ab’s and butt muscles”??? Well, a good start is to find someone that is thorough with the way they initially assess your body and continue to re-assess and track your results. Personally, having worked as a personal trainer and now continue my study through the CHEK Institute this is an area of my work that has really benefited and will continue to benefit the results of my clients.
